Fallin' For You (Part 1)

I don't know about you, but fall snuck up on me QUICK. I usually dread summer. I dread the heat. I dread sweating. So when fall hits, I know we are one step closer to the rain and sweater season.
And for that, I say "Hallelujah!"
So get ready for the #pumpkinspicelattes and #sweaterweather hashtags, because fall is right around the corner.
I don't know about you, but I struggle with fall decor. The fall color palette (orange, red, green, brown) is not what I typically lean towards when picking out decor. I usually gravitate towards the whites, greys and navys. Which - if you think about it - totally clashes with the fall color scheme. You see my dilemma here?!? No, just me? Okay.
Anywaysss...I'm gonna put together a list of a few ideas on what you can do for your home to help your family transition from summer to autumn. A few subtle changes can go a long way!
1. Buffalo Plaid
I love buffalo plaid for what it is - clean lines, black and white, visually satisfying. Luckily, Hobby Lobby has a SLEW of all things buffalo plaid. Table runners, placemats, chargers, napkins, plates, mugs, mats. If you want it, they got it.
2. Placemats
A few years ago when I heard the word "placemat", I thought of the vinyl ones you'd find at your grandmas house that had some sort of pears or grape vineyards printed on them. But now that I'm older and wiser (**insert sarcasm**), I've discovered that placemats can actually liven up your table! Below are some links to a few placemats that I like...
a. Hobby Lobby Metallic Leaf (pictured) - Fun and whimsical. I also like the rust/copper color
b. Hobby Lobby Country Striped - I like the simplicity in the design and color
c. Ikea Woven Seagrass - a classic staple for any season, really!
d. Ikea Beige Block Striped - a little geometric shape, still giving some fall color vibes
e. Crate & Barrel Simone - love the black accent
f. Crate & Barrel Sparrow Grey - gives off a great "rustic" vibe
g. Crate & Barrel Round Copper - now THESE are pretty! Made with real iron wire, giving it a modern industrial feel
h. Pottery Barn Washed Quilted - very nice for a more traditional, vintage feel
Lastly, your local Homegoods, Marshalls, TJ Maxx and Ross will always have great options! And you'll maybe even find them at a super bargain price. Love that.
3. Floral & Greenery
Hobby Lobby for the win, again! Pictured is the famous Magnolia wreath (hats off to you, Joanna Gaines). But who can seriously think about fall and not think of all the burgundy and orange and yellow florals that nature brings us? Hobby Lobby and Michaels are my favorite shops to find any sort of seasonal floral - whether its to make my own wreath (tutorial coming soon) or to put on my kitchen counter for a fun pop color.
Fun tip, every week Hobby Lobby rotates their inventory sales. So every week, either their wall art is all 50% off, or florals and crafts are 50% off. Chances are, if you go there one day and what you want isn't on sale, go the following week and it will most likely have that 50% off sign right next to it. I normally buy all my florals when I see them go on sale. Tryna save that money, honey.
This concludes my "Part 1". I have a lot more ideas coming, but we all know how long that post would be if I included everything here. Haha.
Until next time!
